A project in three languages. An incomplete project — as I cannot depict hundreds of thousands of victims' voices, fears, and moments of astonishment at the horror of what happened.
Drawing this project weighed heavily on my heart, and I did not intend it to be a therapy for myself, but rather a voice for those who need to be heard, for immediate and urgent help. Through the children's imaginations, I tried to capture some of the emotions they faced.
I never paint a provocative picture, but rather one with aesthetic elements — even if sad — as much as possible: inviting the viewer to delve into it for a long time without being visually hurt. I really try to avoid evoking memories of harsh scenes in their minds. But I want people to think about such tragedies.
