Lippenstift und Blut

Syrian-German writer Samer Al-Najjar asked me for a minimalist illustration for the German edition of his recent collection of short stories, Lippenstift und Blut. I chose the most prominent visual symbols from the story he selected to name the collection after.

Later, the publishing house's creative director suggested adding a lipstick — bringing the colour red to the cover and embracing the dramatic mood of the stories. I liked the idea and made the necessary adjustments.
